Rotary Club of Greater Tezpur – Club History
The Rotary Club of Greater Tezpur was chartered on January 14, 2004, under the leadership of District
Governor PDG Manas Chaudhuri, with Rtn. Nilesh Agarwal as the Charter President and Rtn. Sunil Patni
as the Charter Secretary. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tezpur, the club has grown into a thriving
organization with a dedicated membership of 36 Rotarians.
Commitment to Service
Since its inception, the club has remained steadfast in its mission of humanitarian service, undertaking
impactful projects that have transformed lives. Some of its major initiatives include:
• Drinking Water Booths – Installed two water booths to provide access to clean drinking water.
• Eye Cataract Screening & Surgeries – Conducted free cataract screenings, resulting in nearly
2,000 successful surgeries.
• Child Heart Surgeries – Sponsored around 20 life-saving heart surgeries for children.
• Health & Welfare Initiatives – Regularly organizes health camps, blood donation drives, and
other community outreach programs.
The club is also deeply committed to youth leadership and development, having sponsored Three Rotaract
Clubs, both of which continue to be active.
Philanthropy & Global Impact
Demonstrating its strong commitment to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), the club has consistently
contributed to its initiatives and proudly holds the distinction of being a 100% Paul Harris Fellow (PHF)
Club.
In addition, the club has successfully undertaken two Global Grant Projects:
1. Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Tezpur – Completed in Rotary Year 2022-23.
2. Baptist Christian Hospital, Tezpur – Set for inauguration on March 2, 2025.
Leadership & Recognition
A defining milestone for the club was the appointment of Rtn. Nilesh Agarwal as District Governor in
Rotary Year 2023-24. Under his visionary leadership, the club had the privilege of hosting the Rotary
District Conference, further strengthening its legacy of excellence.
